Background of this search: The Inter-American Development (IDB) Group is the leading source of development finance for Latin America and the Caribbean. The team’s mission: The Communications Division (DCC) of the Knowledge, Innovation and Communications Sector (KIC) uses digital intelligence, data and creativity to help position the IDB Group as the preferred partner for development in the region. DCC works with media, email and social media channels to help give visibility to stories of impact in the region.

Objectives of the Consultancy: KIC is seeking a motivated and passionate bilingual social media and digital marketing professional to take IDB Invest’s social media and digital content strategy to the next level.

The consultant will work with IDB Invest’s Corporate Communication and Marketing teams and be responsible for managing the social media channel strategy to build and strengthen IDB Invest’s corporate image. The consultant will also work in close coordination with IDB’s social media team to leverage the Bank’s social media platforms, develop paid promotions, and monitor conversations and respond to queries.

Additionally, the consultant will develop and execute a digital content strategy to promote IDB Invest’s knowledge products, corporate announcements and events across its corporate communication channels.

What you’ll do:

  • Translate business objectives into social media and digital content strategies to deliver business impact.
  • Manage an editorial calendar in coordination with IDB Invest and IDB teams.
  • Create and edit content in English and Spanish for social media corporate channels.
  • Project manage workflow with designers, producers and translators to develop artwork and multimedia content.
  • Plan and execute a social media strategy that includes a paid media mix.
  • Conduct employee advocacy trainings for IDB Invest employees.
  • Develop a digital content strategy for IDB Invest’s corporate communication channels, including website, blog, email and internal.
  • Manage digital campaigns to promote IDB Invest’s announcements, events and knowledge products.
  • Provide timely performance reports based on KPIs.

What you’ll need:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Business, or other related field preferred. Master’s degree desirable.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Language: Perfect command of English and Spanish (Portuguese proficiency is also desirable).

Core and Technical Competencies:

  • Excellent writing and editing, for digital use.
  • Online community management experience and knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Solid understanding of current industry standards and techniques for digital content creation.
  • In-depth understanding of private sector in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, and express ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Strong teamwork orientation and effective communication skills.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Hootsuite or similar scheduling and measurement tool
